That's how we say it in our house...for weeks it was, "We're going to STORY LAND!!!" And now it's, "When can we go back to STORY LAND????" Or occasionally...if there is a lot of whining you might hear, "If you keep whining like that we may never take you back to STORY LAND!!!" And all in all, it was totally worth all the exclamation points. What an amazing place! I think I might go so far as to say that it's better than Disney...for now at least. It's a nice, clean park full of fun for literally all ages, and I am really looking forward to bringing the kids back again next year.
This year we went for the weekend with our friends Andrea and Scott, and their two girls Elizabeth (Lexi's friend from school) and Anna (who is just a bit older than Zachary). We rented a large ski house in Attitash, which was just about 5 minutes from STORY LAND!!! The big girls had a blast getting to sleep in bunk beds all by themselves in the lower level of the house, and all of the kids enjoyed playing around in their temporary digs. Lexi was not a fan of the elk head on the wall in the living room. (This description of her reaction is stated VERY mildly!) Because you had to walk very close to the elk head to get up the spiral staircase, the Lippman family spent all of our time on the middle and lower floors, which worked out just fine. The house was perfect for the 8 of us, though we did not spend much time there.
STORY LAND!!! has a deal where you can enter the park after 3pm on one night, and go for "free" the next day, so this is what we decided to do. While our plans were almost foiled by a thunder storm that blew through at exactly 3pm, we let it pass and went anyway...even though it continued to rain a bit almost the entire time we were there on Friday. Saturday, however, was sunny and HOT.As expected, Lexi was a bit timid about the fast rides at first. But once she got her feet wet on the flying shoes, she was ready to go and couldn't be stopped. Zachary also enjoyed every ride we took him on, and was also happy hanging in the shade of his stroller, where he even took a nap! We went on almost all of the rides (some were just too much for Lexi, or the lines were too long), and in the end we all loved every single one of them! For four kids and four adults on a very hot weekend, there was surprisingly little whining and almost no crying, so it was simply a joy from start to finish.
On our way home in the car today, I polled everyone on their favorite part of STORY LAND!!!, and here is what they told me:
Lexi: The spinning turtle ride, the whales, and the flying fish. These were pretty speedy rides, but she laughed through all of them, and never wanted to get off. Luckily, the lines were so short that we got to go again and again!
Zachary: WHALES!!! He really loved the whale ride...I almost couldn't get him out when it was over!
Ahren: "Hmmm...I really liked that taco!" Ahren ate his way through STORY LAND!!! but also enjoyed going on the rides with the kids.
Me: I honestly enjoyed every minute of being there, though I have two favorite parts. The first was riding the spinning turtles with Andrea, Lexi and Elizabeth. At first we couldn't get the turtle to spin, but suddenly it took off, launching Andrea and I into an uncontrollable fit of laughter. We had tears streaming down our faces after that ride. The second was riding the spinning barrels with the girls. This ride spun around and went inside and outside of a clock. Lexi had her tongue out through the whole ride in hysterical laughter, but every time we went in the dark clock her eyes would shoot up with concern (still with her tongue out and laughing), and then we'd go out and she would lighten up and laugh freely again. This went on through the whole ride and was more entertaining than the spinning.
