Tis the Season

Christmas preparations are so much fun!  We really enjoyed our December as we looked forward to Santa coming once again!

Tree trimming!!

It was Zach's turn to put the angel on this year.

My favorite gifts under the tree.

All of us.

We love it when Great Gram, Gigi and Poppy come to help trim our tree.

Ahren bought me an awesome sweater this year!

All dressed up for the Boston Pops!

What a fun adventure!

Santa and Keith Lockhart!

Santa gave out candy canes!!

A wonderful sing-a-long to end a wonderful show!

We met Tony, Sarah and Leo for lunch.  The boys with their boys.

A walk through Fanuiel Hall with friends.

Leo adores Lexi!

The feeling was mutual.

Zach had a great day!

The Child Becomes The Mother

As my grandmother has gotten older she has often quipped, "The child becomes the mother" when my mom is telling her what she needs to do.  So, I expected that at some point in my life, this would also happen with me and my children.  But, I really didn't expect it to happen when Lexi was only 9!!  Here are three conversations from the last week to prove that we are quickly heading down this path...

I was in the bathroom folding laundry when I heard the Christmas music from the kitchen get turned way down.
From the bathroom I yelled, "Hey!  Who turned down the music??"
Lexi replied, "Are you even listening to it?"
I yelled back, "Yes!  I'm just folding some laundry!"
And she said, "Sorry.  I came in here and the music was so loud and I didn't see anyone, so I just turned it down."
Those darn parents and their loud music!

Yesterday on our way to PT we were listening to a new Boston Pops Christmas album.  I love their version of 12 Days of Christmas, so when the song was over I said, "Can we listen to it again??"  Lexi said, "Ok, mom.  One more time."

Later, while she was being warmed up at PT, I was dangling my necklace off my nose to make her laugh.  She said to me, "Mom, I hope you don't do that at work when you have clients in your office!"

I guess it's clear that I still have some growing up to do.  Lexi, on the other hand, seems to have matured to adulthood overnight!
