Yesterday, while driving by Smolak Farms, Lexi asked me, "Mom, where the sign says 'Private Functions', does that mean things like going to the bathroom?"  Thankfully she was a good sport when I burst out laughing and gave me a minute to get control of myself before explaining the real meaning.

Boom!

When Zach hopped in the car after camp yesterday he was wearing his new tie dyed t-shirt.  I said, "Hey buddy, I love your shirt!"  His response?  "Boom, babeh!!"  Sigh...

Two Become One

I believe it has officially happened that Ahren and I have been married for so long that we think the same way. This has been progressing for some time now - watching tv or a movie we will often make the same comment at the same time, etc. But the other day we were discussing a party we were invited to in Plymouth, MA. Ahren said something about Plymouth being south of us and I argued that it was west. Then I said, "oh, you're right. Plymouth is south. I was thinking of..." And he cut me off and said "Sturbridge". Yup. I was thinking of Sturbridge. Why would he know that??  Sturbridge Village and Plymouth Plantation are both "living museums" depicting early Massachusetts life. That's why I got confused. He knew it. We have become one person. ❤️

On Gasinga Le, On Gasinga Le!

This afternoon Zach came charging out of his preschool singing,

"On Gasinga Le!

On Gasinga Le!" 

To the tune of "All The Single Ladies". He had heard it in the car this morning on the way to school. I did a quick check with his teacher to make sure he had not been singing it all morning at school. She hadn't noticed if he had so off we went, Zach singing all the way. Sometimes I think it's a good thing my kids don't understand the words to songs. Much like the time Lexi told me I could dance to "I'm Sexy and I Know It" because I was only 35...NOT sixty. :). But their interpretations sure make me smile. :)

Handsome Boy

Zachary had a little concert at school this morning, and wanted to dress up. I was looking for a belt but could only find a tie. He wanted to wear the tie!  What a cutie. :)

Awesome Rocks!

Lexi was so interested in a book that she was reading during free time at school, that she took notes. I especially enjoyed the note she wrote to herself about asking Uncle Sid about the Taj Mahal.

Just a Spoonful of Sugar Helps The Medicine Go Down

I almost never buy M&Ms for my kids. I don't mind the chocolate, but we avoid food coloring whenever we can. But on Monday Zach had his five year check up at the doctor and I knew he would be getting a shot. He was very upset about going, so I decided to do what any good mother would do - bribe him. ;)

I waited until I had him buckled in the car before I mentioned where we were going. Of course he cried, but then I told him that I bought him a tube of mini M&Ms to eat after the appointment. He settled down and then very quietly asked from the backseat, "Mini, or Mickey?"  

He did great at the appointment and was happy to get his treat. He even happily shared with his friends and sister when we got home. When the tube was empty, you'd think he'd let me throw it away, but nope. Both he and Lexi periodically open it, stick their nose in, take a huge sniff, and then sigh with pleasure from the great scent. Yes, it's clear these kids don't get a lot of candy. The lingering smell of chocolate has become their drug. 

The best part is that my bribe worked!  I told Zach he has to go back in six weeks for another shot and he can't wait!  :)
